Emergency Response Taskforce
Mental Health America and its MHA affiliates are working together to address community-wide mental health needs in the aftermath of national emergencies.
An Emergency Response Taskforce of 20 communities with experience in emergency response are participating in this national effort. Together we are working at city, county, state, regional, and national levels in coordination with a wide range of health care providers, emergency service organizations, government groups, and other service organizations.
Our national taskforce will be immediately convened as a weather emergency occurs based on input from the locally affected MHAs, and support will be initiated if required.

Mental Health America’s Lifeline - Emergency Response Community Affected Report Form
As the level of service requirement exceeds the capacity of the local MHA to address the scope of the disaster, Mental Health America believes that a coordinated national effort is critical to providing essential care on the local level through increasing resources for the community MHA as well as with supplemental support from the MHA national network. Together we stand ready to help you.
If your community is preparing for an approaching weather emergency or other emergency, please contact Kate Gaston at kgaston@mentalhealthamerica.net to let us know the resources that you expect to need, your complete contact information and backup information as soon as possible.
As the emergency event unfolds, please inform us of the ongoing support you need. We will coordinate with the MHA affiliate network to help support your efforts.
Contributions will be encouraged for the communities affected through our national alert system and website, so please register your community’s needs as soon as possible
